Dive into nature this summer school holidays 2018

This summer school holidays don’t let the kids drive you wild sitting at home, instead check out our school holiday program.

We have activities for all ages from toddlers to preschoolers, primary and high school kids.

Join our series of Art meets Science workshops, where kids aged 5-13 will learn about nests, what Rangers do at the wetlands, animal tracks, and discover what creatures hide in the leaf litter.

Each workshop starts with a tour of the wetlands where kids get to be hands on scientists. Then swap the science hat for the artist beret and get creating. All kids coming to the workshops need a grown up with them, but adults are free.

Talking art – Mariana is back by popular demand with a beautiful round of art lessons. From nature paintbrushes, to butterflieshand made clay owls, lizards, spider sculptures, bird puppets, and mythical creatures made from clay there is an art workshop for every taste.

The added bonus is your 8 to 15 year old can be dropped off for the 2 hour lesson, giving you time for a coffee, or the shopping.  Or if you have younger children you can take them to our Wetland Treasures activity running at the same time.

Wetland Treasures is a great way to get your under 7’s out in the fresh air to learn about the birds, creatures and plants of the wetlands. Join a Ranger with your little ones for a fun morning in nature. A complimentary fruit break is provided, and the morning will include meeting Tucker the turtle, exploring our discovery table, a short walk to the bird hides, and more. The walking tour is pram friendly so babies can come along for free. We have several tours running, check the calendar for the full dates.

Curious kids will love our Bush and Waterbug detectives. Using the clues they find on a guided walk, kids will then find out who lives at the Wetlands. Discover how tiny Waterbugs can tell us so much about the waterways around our homes. Book soon as we only have two sessions this holidays, here and here. Kids need a grown up with them, but adults are free. This activity suits 5 to 13 year olds and a healthy fruit break is provided.

Talking food, check out our famous Bush Tucker tour with Wiradjuri man Adam Shipp. This tour suits kids aged 4 and up, with the added bonus the accompanying grown-up comes for free!

Explore the wetland’s novel ecosystem and sample a range of Bush tucker found in the ACT with Adam. We’re only offering two tours this school holidays here and hereso book soon to avoid missing out.

Kids still stuck at home driving you wild? Then check out our Mulligans Flat school holiday program for more ideas!
